The Crooked House - The Best Restaurant in Wolverhampton

The Crooked House was originally built in 1765 to be a farmhouse. In the 19th Century there was a mining accident under the building which then started to slant. After it was a farmhouse, it became a public house name the Siden House.

It got this distinctive name as the local dialect used the word sidden in place of the work crooked or slanted. After a change of ownership, the house was renamed to the Glynne Arms, based on the name of the local landowner.

In 1940 the Glynne Arms was condemned and scheduled for destruction. Before the house could be destroyed, it was bought by Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries. The new owners added various buttresses and girders to ensure the house was safe once more and overturned the condemned status of the structure.

The current owners of The Crooked House have since turned this transitional public house into one of the best restaurants in Wolverhampton.
